The Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership is available to candidates who already possess teaching certification, a Master's degree in education or a related field, and three years of satisfactory teaching or professional experience in a Pre-K-12 setting. The program leads to a recommendation to the New York State Education Department for initial certification as a School Building Leader (SBL). This certificate allows the candidate to assume such roles as principal, assistant principal, supervisor, department chairperson, or program coordinator.
