This address accesses the Yale University Library "Collections and Services" page. To get to the Thomas Hardy Collection, follow these steps:
(1) Click on "Libraries & Collections A-Z."
(2) Under "Libraries & Collections," click on "Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library."
(3) At the "Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library" page, click on "The Collections."
(4) At "The Collections" page, click on "Manuscripts and Archival Collections."
(5) You will be brought to a "Yale University Library Finding Aid Database" page; in the first box, enter "Thomas Hardy" and click on "Search."
(6) You will be brought to a page with a list of special collections, including the "Thomas Hardy Collection"; click on that name to access the inventory of the collection.

A detailed inventory of the Thomas Hardy Collection housed in Yale University's Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library. The collection is organized in three series:

(1) Correspondence, including letters by Hardy and both his wives
(2) Manuscripts of Far from the Madding Crowd and Human Shows;
(3) Other materials, including a photograph of Hardy.

Some items are available on microfilm; for information, consult the Public Services Staff of the library. The collection is open for research.

COMMENT:

A very detailed inventory of an exceptionally valuable collection of Hardy manuscripts. It is supplemented by Yale's Richard L. Purdy Collection.
