Part of a site maintained by Fachhochschule Augsburg, Bavaria, Germany, this is one of a series of pages on 19th-century British and American writers mastered by Prof. Ulrich Harsch, a specialist in communication design and electronic publication.

The page is arranged in three major parts:

  1. "The Author" provides a one-paragraph biographical note on Hardy, followed by reproductions of three portraits of him.
  2. "The Work" consists of a list of titles of 31 writings by Hardy. Three of those--The Return of the Native, Wessex Tales, and Life's Little Ironies--are hyperlinked to e-texts of those works.
  3. "Appendix" provides links to the TTHA site and to Project Gutenberg (see our Links A 7), as well as a list of 5 editions of Hardy's writings.

COMMENT:

The brief biographical note and list of works are unexceptional. The sources of the portraits are unidentified and there is no indication that they are reproduced with permission. The e-texts are derived from Project Gutenberg. See our GENERAL CAUTION about such pictures and texts. The short list of editions is marred by significant errors.
