An analysis of revisions in the texts of "An Imaginative
Woman," the manuscript of which Hardy presented to Aberdeen
University Library in 1911. A print version of this study
appeared as "'An Imaginative Woman': From Manuscript to
Wessex Edition" in the Thomas Hardy Journal, 9:3 (October
1993), 76-83. The author, Martin Ray, is a
Senior Lecturer in the Department of English of the University of
Aberdeen.
COMMENT:
A scholarly study that includes speculations about the influence
Hardy's relationship with Florence Henniker had on the writing of
"An Imaginative Woman."
