An entry in the Penn State University Libraries' microform
catalogue describing an 18-reel collection of microfilms published in
1976 by EP Microform Ltd (East Ardsley, Wakefield, West
Yorkshire, WF3 2JN, UK. The entry asserts the contents to be of
Hardy manuscripts in the THE
DORSET COUNTY MUSEUM and provides a reel-by- reel
description.
COMMENT:
The assertion that the manuscripts included are those
in the Dorset County Museum is incorrect. The 18 reel set in fact
includes microfilms of manuscripts not only from the DCM but from many other
repositories as well; moreover, the description of the contents of the
reels is incomplete and inaccurate. There is no
reason to assume that there is anything defective about the
microfilm copies themselves, but for a detailed reel-by-reel account
of the contents of the EP Microform Ltd edition of microfilms of
Hardy's manuscripts and other documents, as well as information about how copies may be located, see "Hardy's
Manuscripts and Other Texts on Microfilm" at this TTHA Web
site's RESOURCES, and, also, the list of American, Canadian, and Australian university libraries that hold copies of the microfilms provided on a University of California, Irvine, web page titled "Original Manuscripts and Papers of Thomas Hardy."
