One entry in the Tate Gallery's electronic catalogue of its General Collection is for one of the two versions of a portrait of Hardy done by Jacques-Emile Blanche (1861-1942) in 1906. The catalogue also provides an entry for a lithograph portrait of Hardy by Sir William Rothenstein (1872-1945)--click here to access it--and another entry for a portrait of Hardy by Reginald G. Eves (1876-1941)--click here to access it. Catalogue entries provide details about the size of the portrait, an indication that it is signed, and other technical matters; the Blanche and Rothenstein entries also include small reproductions.
COMMENT:
For further information on the somewhat controversial Blanche portrait of Hardy, thought by some to make him appear older than he was, see Michael Millgate's Thomas Hardy: A Biography (Oxford UP, 1982, pp. 425, 449, and 451) which provides comments on the portrait by Blanche, Hardy, and others.
