COMMENT:

This first German web site devoted to Hardy limits itself to providing information not already available on the Internet. An authoritative print source is in every case provided for the poetic e-texts. The hyperlinked Hardy map of Wessex is a revealing (though at present incomplete) way of relating Hardy's fictional sites to descriptive texts from his writings. The biographical timeline and list of translations are both helpful services for German Internet users; the list of translations is particularly valuable because it identifies some so scarce they are available in only one or two libraries in Germany. The bibliography of German doctoral dissertations usefully brings together information otherwise difficult to find, as does the bibliography of Hardy's critical reception in Germany.

SUMMARY:

A highly reliable source of information about Hardy, much of which is not available, or not available in the form provided, either in print or on the Internet.
