Powell's Books of Portland, Oregon, describes itself as the "the largest used and new bookstore in the world" and claims to offer for sale "more than 1.5 million" new and used books. The catalogue may be searched by keyword, author, title, publisher, and ISBN. Typically titles are displayed 10 to a page, (this display can be adjusted up to two hundred and fifty titles) and entries provide various kinds of bibliographic information as well as an indication that the book is new or used, paper or hardcover, what condition it is in, and in which of its seven Portland locations it is housed. In some cases a review or additional bibliographic information is available. Out-of-print searches can be made on request.
COMMENT:
Prices range widely, and entries can vary greatly in both fullness of bibliographic detail and of description of condition. A search for "Thomas Hardy" as keyword yielded 553 primary and secondary titles, including some relatively hard to find items, and some not related to Thomas Hardy (1840-1928).
