RESEARCHPAPER (HARDY)
DESCRIPTION:
Address: http://www.researchpaper.com/forums/Research_Central/messages/536.html
Contact: "Barry Traver" (research@infonautics.com
Date: 07/01/04
A Hardy "Discussion Area" sub-page of "Researchpaper.com," produced by Bigchalk.com, which also offers what it terms an "Idea
Directory," a "Writing Center" and an "Electric Library" for students
doing term papers. In this Thomas Hardy part of the "Discussion Area"
there are postings of such messages as "I need a plot summary of
this book by Thomas Hardy . . . . I'm desperate."
COMMENT:
The few messages concerning Hardy, which may or may not be from students, date from 1997. "Barry Traver" is called a "Discussion Group Moderator" but is not otherwise identified, and his
response to all requests is an identical boiler-plate
message that gives a completely useless reference to one many years long defunct web page (see our Links A 8, "The Thomas Hardy Home Page"), followed by advice to go to the "Electric
Library"--a product of Tucows, Inc.--where, for $14.95 a month, one can get a
subscription. For an assessment of that commercial service, see our Links C 35, "Electric Library". The "Idea Directory" and "Writing Center" give access to some basic reference tools, with, also more references to the "Electric Library" and to other commercial products.
SUMMARY:
Of no value for serious research on Hardy or even as a source for someone inquiring about the uses and abuses of the Internet by students doing course papers on Hardy or his writings.
