Peter Morton is Senior Lecturer in English at Flinders University
of South Australia. He is the author of The Vital Science:
Biology and the Literary Imagination 1860-1900 (London:
Allen and Unwin,1984); it includes a chapter on "The Motif of Heredity in The Way of All Flesh and Tess of the d'Urbervilles," about which see our Link A 72.
This site provides an extensive annotated bibliography, arranged by author, of writings relevant to the
relationship of Darwin and literature. It includes works both by and about Hardy.
COMMENT: :
A very full and wide-ranging bibliography, useful for the
information it makes available for assessing the impact of
Darwin's thought on Hardy and his contemporaries.
