A syllabus divided into five main parts:
 
1. Outline: A brief description of the course.
2. Preliminary Reading: A list of nine, mostly primary, readings.
3. Secondary Bibliography: Twenty-five book-length works published between 1978 and 1996.
4. Course Timetable.
5. Assessment Statement: "Will be by two assessed essays; there will also be a non-assessed essay."
