WHAT DO WE OFFER?
The SUNY Fredonia Technology Incubator is able to offer technology based, startup companies access to a unique facility, business resources, technology expertise as well as a range of highly qualified faculty, technology experts, business professionals and mentors. Some of our current offerings include:
- Developing, Forming and Setting-Up Businesses
The Incubator staff, in partnership with local professionals, helps the entrepreneur to address the requirements of setting up a business including, writing a business plan, staffing, acquiring equipment, human resources, permits, marketing, accounting and legal issues.
- Business Consulting
Through our experienced staff and a network of service providers and advisors committed to the incubator project, we offer access to a variety of business professionals who are uniquely qualified to help you with critical issues faced by startup companies. Through our connection to SUNY Fredonia we can also provide access to faculty who can provide expert advice to emerging companies.
- Business Mentoring
Experienced business people are available who are willing to develop a long-term relationship with an entrepreneur and their business which is designed to strengthen the business through their sharing of their experience and expertise.
- Peer and Business Networking
Clients will have the opportunity to interact with fellow entrepreneurs and other business people. These opportunities allow them to benefit from other’s experiences and contacts for advice, vendors, customers, etc.
- Business Training
Clients and their staffs have access to the free training available on a wide assortment of business management topics important to current businesses.
- Intern Programs
Students from SUNY Fredonia, in a variety of different academic programs, are available for internship opportunities available in a tenant business.
- NYS & SUNY Technology Centers
State and University-affiliated technology centers exist throughout New York State. These centers specialize in disciplines from nanotechnology, life sciences and environmental research to material engineering and information technology. Clients have access to the resources of these centers
- Intellectual Property
The incubator can connect client businesses with experts in the areas of technology commercialization, grant management and the legal protection of intellectual property
- Secretarial/Clerical Support
Incubator tenants have access to copiers, scanners and color printers in the incubator office. Basic clerical support can be arranged on an as-needed basis.
- Furnishings
Some office furniture is available for use by tenants at no charge
- Funding
The incubator manages one in-house seed capital loan fund and maintains an ongoing relationship with a number of state, regional and local funding sources. Incubator staff can assist clients with the process of qualifying for and connecting with appropriate sources of capital
- Space
The incubator is a brand new building specially designed as a “green” facility to serve the most important space requirements of technology-based startups. Businesses needing office space, clean rooms, assembly areas, and media or internet labs can be accommodated.
