Developing Global Competency: Study abroad in Puebla, Mexico

“Developing a Global Competency” is a study abroad program carried out in partnership with the Mexico’s Universidad Popular Autonoma del Estado de Puebla (UPAEP). This is the first offering of the SUNY Chancellor’s Award-winning series “Thematic International Educational Seminars” (T.I.E.S.). The program consists of one week of interdisciplinary lectures and field trips Western N.Y. followed by two full weeks in and around Puebla, Mexico. In Puebla, students receive further instruction in language and history while taking part in various site visits and cultural events highlighting global connections between the U.S. and Mexico. Participant students acquire global competency through international travel and an interdisciplinary approach incorporating history, economics, communications, political science and language into a discussion on global awareness and cross cultural literacy.
