We need your help!

The International Education Center host a number of events thought the semester.  We rely on student volunteers to help out, including guiding new international students during New International Student Orientation and sharing study abroad experiences during our annual Study Abroad Fair.  Please review the list below and contact Mary Sasso if your interested in helping out.  We need student thought the semester - help us out just a little or a lot - its up to you!

  

Host Family for the Holidays

Many of our international students studying at SUNY Fredonia only get a look into American college life and very interested in learning about American families.  While families come in many shapes and sizes and celebrate holidays different ways, you can become a Host Family for the Holidays.  In return, American students get a glimpse into international traditions.  Our center tries to match students based on county, gender, transportation, and housing preferences.  If you are interested, please stop by our contact our office.

  

Study Abroad Orientation

At the end of each semester, the International Education Center hold a Study Abroad Orientationfor students who are about to embark their study abroad experience.  While we provides a lot of useful information, we depend on previous study abroad students to share their experiences and insight.  If you are interested in helping out, please contact our office.

  

International Education Week

The U.S. government sets aside one week, before Thanksgiving, designated as International Education Week.  The International Education Center, in cooperation with a number of other offices on campus, celebrates this week with a number of multi-cultural events.  These include Cruise around the World, International Dance Classes, and much more.  If you would like to help our office with these events, please stop in or contact us.

  

New International Student Orientation

Remember when you were a freshman making the transition to college life?  The International Education Center host a New Internationional Student Orientationthe week before each semester begins.  International students not only have to adjust to college life, but to life in America.  Our office relys on both American and international student upper classman to assist our new students with this transition.  If you are in town the week before the semester begins and would like to volunteer, please contact our office.  I am afraid that we cannot provide housing or meals on campus for student volunteers.

  

Study Abroad Fair

Each Fall, the International Education Center host a one day Study Abroad Fair.  Many of our professors who provide classes abroad during J-Term and Summer along with our SUNY partner institutions provide information booths in the Williams Center.  We rely on student volunteers to help our presenters set-up, distribute information, and direct students.  If you are interested, please contact our office.

    

Aichi University Japanese Visitor Program

Each Spring semester a small group of Japanese students visits our campus.  The Aichi University Japanese Visitor Programgives our Japanese visitors a look into American college life.  Our center, in cooperation with other offices on and off campus provides programs aimed at cross cultural sharing between our two great cultures.  If you would be interested in helping with this program, please contact our office.
