SA wants withdrawal fee withdrawn
The class withdrawal fee suggested to
be discarded for all students at Thursday's
GA meeting.
Plans to put pressure on the administration
to get rid of the course withdrawal
fee were presented last Thursday, Nov. 8 at
the Student Association General Assembly
meeting.
Amanda McVay, a senior political
science and French major and chair of
the Academic Affairs committee, met
with Virginia Horvath, vice president for
Academic Affairs on Friday morning to
discuss the plan.
"The reason first semester freshmen
have the extended add-drop deadline is
because things change in your life when
you first go to college, but what about
people who change majors or add another
major?" McVay said.
The rationale for getting rid of the
fee also includes the fact that withdrawals
will still show up on a student's academic
transcript without the fee.
Vice presidents and other administrators
plan to meet with members of SA
to discuss the plan during the next few
weeks. McVay said that she plans meet
with people from the Registrar office to
find out what the money from the fee goes
toward.
The General Assembly meets
Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. in G-124 McEwen
Hall.
