Interlibrary Loan Request Form Before submitting a request, you must make sure that Reed Library does not own the material you are requesting. Check the online catalog NOW to be sure. We cannot request materials from another library if we own it. If we own a book electronically, we WILL NOT order the paper copy. Purpose: It is the goal of Interlibrary Loan to locate and acquire, whenever possible, a wide variety of materials considered to be essential components of the educational and research needs of our college community. The I.L.L. department is responsible for lending materials owned by Reed Library to other institutions. Reed Library's I.L.L. policy complies with all American Library Association guidelines and the Copyright law of the United States (Title 17, U.S. Code). Eligibility: Currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff may use the services of Interlibrary Loan. Others should use the services of their public library. Cost: Loans are free unless we are charged by the lending institution. When there is a charge, we will contact you before ordering the material to see if you will be willing to pay for it. All borrowers pay the cost for overdue fines they incur. Making a Request: To use Interlibrary Loan, you need to set up an account by clicking the link for Interlibrary Loan found on the Reed Library Homepage. Once your ILLiad account is established you can request material that is not in the Reed Library collection, and we will request the material for you from other libraries. Journal Articles will be delivered to you electronically using your campus email account. Books and other materials, such as videos, scores or microfilm will be available for you to pick up at the library's circulation desk. Please allow 7-10 days for processing book requests and 3-6 days for article requests, depending on the time of year. If you submit more than 5 requests simultaneously, please prioritize them, using the "notes" field on the online form. Notification: Receipt of Book or Article You will be notified via campus email when your material has arrived. All books or other materials, such as videos, microfilm, scores, etc. must be checked ou at the Circulation Desk in Reed Library. You must present your Fredonia ID Card in order to pick up materials from the circulation desk Journal articles will be sent to you electronically, allowing you to print, view or download the material. Loan Period: The loan period and renewal options are determined by the lending library. Renewals are to be made only when absolutely necessary. Returning Materials: All materials borrowed through Interlibrary Loan must be returned to the Circulation Desk. All borrowers pay the cost, including processing fees, for materials they lose or damage. All borrowers pay the cost for overdue fines they incur. Reed Library can suspend borrowing and library privileges should they be abused. |
