Policy regarding use of faculty study carrelsI. Introduction Reed Library provides twelve study carrels in Reed Library North and thirteen study carrels in Reed Library south for faculty, professional staff and graduate students who wish to use them for extensive and ongoing library research. The purpose of these carrels is to facilitate the research process and to allow faculty close access to library materials. II. Guidelines for application for Reed Library Study Carrels A. Application forms are available from the Director's Office in Reed Library or on the library web page. Applications are accepted from faculty, professional staff and graduate students until the application deadline or until all faculty carrels are assigned, whichever comes first. B. Carrels are assigned on a first come, first serve basis C. Faculty study carrel assignments are made for up to two semesters and one summer session. D. After two academic years (4 semesters and two summer sessions), faculty must vacate the carrel for one semester before applying again. E. If more people apply than there are carrels in which to accommodate them, applicants may share a carrel, if it is mutually agreeable to the applicants. F. Library materials must be charged out for use in the carrels. G. The Library retains the right to inspect carrels periodically in search of missing books. |
