Individual Research Appointment

Requests require 24 hour notice for the librarian to be scheduled. Requests made on Friday may not be filled until Tuesday. Requests after 5 pm considered submitted the following business day. You are not scheduled for an appointment until you receive email confirmation from library staff.

Information Literacy Services

Information Literacy is an integral part of the learning process. Reed Library, in collaboration with educators, strives to instill lifelong learning skills students can easily transfer and apply beyond this institution in order to be a responsible member of our knowledge-driven, globally oriented society. Beginning in Spring 2014, after a year of research, assessment and generous feedback, Reed Library is please to announce the addition of several services to the Information Literacy Program. These services include: ANGEL embedded tutorials, activities and assessments, librarian-led working sessions, weekly student workshops, assistance with research assignment design & more.

Materials Request Forms 

Interlibrary Loan

If the library does not have the materials needed for your research, they can be obtained from other libraries, generally at no charge. When there is a charge, we will contact you before ordering the material to see if you will be willing to pay for it. All borrowers pay the cost for overdue fines they incur. Interlibrary Loan request form for materials is available online. Patrons should contact Interlibrary Loan for complete details.

Suggest an Item for the Collection

Use this form to recommend Reed Library purchase materials for the Library's collections. If ordering items to be placed on reserve for a course, please indicate in the notes field. For Departments: Please direct all questions about book allocations and ordering to Kathleen Sacco kathleen.sacco@fredonia.edu. All other requests will be placed in a queue and will be assessed for purchased as funds are available. All materials are processed according to the Library's Collection Development Policy and Deselection Policy.

Have a list of items? Use this Excel Form to fill out the list and attach it to the form, rather than filling the form out for individual items.

Request a Course Reserve

Reserve requests must be submitted at least 3 weeks before the beginning of each semester. Materials submitted later will not be available for the first day of classes. During the first 2 weeks of the semester, reserve staff receives numerous listings. Processing may take up to 2 weeks at this time. At other times during the semester materials are generally processed in 1 - 5 days. It takes a minimum of 5 weeks to acquire new titles in print. It also takes a minimum of 2 weeks to recall books that are checked out to borrowers. Reed Library will not purchase items for reserves that are considered textbooks for the course. If this is to be a merged course in ANGEL, you must merge your course before submitting a reserve request Please fill out a Reserves Request form. This request form is for the area of the Garden inside the building. Faculty and staff requests only, please.

Request a Library Study Carrel

Reed Library provides eight study carrels in the Carnahan-Jackson Center for Learning and Scholarship for faculty and professional staff wishing to use them for extensive and ongoing research. The purpose of these carrels is to facilitate the research process and to allow faculty close access to library materials.
