Wind Conducting Symposium
with Dr. Paula Holcomb and Dr. Mark Scatterday

The Wind Conducting Symposium is a four-day intensive course with Dr. Paula Holcomb and Dr. Mark Scatterday from Eastman School of Music. Designed to enhance the skills of conductors at every level, topics will include repertoire choices, rehearsal techniques, baton technique, ensemble development, score study, and recruiting. Masterworks and new compositions of all levels will be explored and conducted. Musical interpretation, movement and conducting technique will be discussed. Podium time will be included for those wishing to incorporate new techniques.
Special guests Dr. Rick Fleming and Dr. Martin Seggelke will be doing a debriefing session for the conductors of the symposium.
Graduate Credit is available for this class.

Choose two (2) movements or works of contrasting styles from the following, and please come prepared to play!
First Suite in E Flat - Holst/Mathews
Lincolnshire Posy - Grainger/Fennell
Three Ayres from Gloucester - Stuart
Come Sweet Death - Bach/Reed
Prelude, Siciliano and Rondo - Arnold/Paynter
- Workshop participant with graduate credit (1-3 hours credit) - fee depends on credit hours.
- Non-credit participant registration fee (includes conducting time at the podium) - $325
- Non-credit auditor registration (observer in the workshop) fee - $175
