Brian A. Bogey has been the Minister of Music and Worship Arts at Zion Covenant Church
in Jamestown since September, 2002. He formerly was Organist-Choirmaster of Jamestown’s
First Lutheran Church for 31 years, whose choir had taken a concert tour to Sweden,
Norway and Denmark in 1982. He also served as Organist and Choir Director at the
Jamestown First Baptist Church for seven years, and as Choir Director at SS. Peter
and Paul Church. He taught choral music for 34 years in the public school system;
the last 21 years at Jamestown High School whose A Cappella Choir toured throughout
the United States, Canada, Austria, Germany, Italy and England under his direction.
Mr. Bogey received BME and MME degrees from SUNY Fredonia with additional studies
at Thiel and Muhlenburg Colleges and the Gettysburg Seminary in Pennsylvania; St.
Cloud and St. Thomas Universities in Minnesota; Vanderbilt College in Chicago;
Eastman School of Music, and Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey.
He was the assistant organist at the Chautauqua Institution for seven years. Mr.
Bogey is currently the Director of the Jamestown Choral Society, the Jamestown Community
College Choir and the Living Christmas Tree. Bogey is the Sub Dean of the Chautauqua
Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, and also teaches organ at Fredonia College.
He is married to the former Sandra Kae Nelson, and they have three grown children
Kristin Dee, Kathryn Emily and Jonathan Douglas.
