John Maguda received the Bachelor and Master of Music degrees as well as a Performer's Certificate from SUNY Fredonia.
Fro 33 years he taught at Eden Central School where he served as chairman of the music department and director of the Eden High School Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble. He was the 1998 Recipient of the Excellence in Music Education Award for Instrumental Music given by the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Erie County Council of Music Educators. He was also honored as Teacher of the Year in 1990 and 2001 and presented the Community Involvement Music Award at Eden Central School in 2005.
He is director of the Erie County (Music Educators') Wind Ensemble, past conductor of
the Village of Hamburg Concert Band and assistant director of the Orchard Park Symphony Orchestra.
As a trumpeter, he regularly performs with the Special Edition Band, Jim Tudini Big Band, Cathedral Brass Quintet, Galliard Brass Quintet and the Orchard Park and Clarence Symphony Orchestras. In addition, he has performed with the Buffalo Philharmonic and with theater orchestras at Shea's Performing Arts Center and Artpark.
John Maguda is also the Festival Administrator for the Erie County Music Educators' Association, and a member of the Executive Board of the Buffalo Musicians' Association, Local 92, American Federation of Musicians since 1998.
