John Maguda received the Bachelor and Master of Music degrees as well as a Performer's Certificate from The State University of New York at Fredonia.

For 33 years he taught at Eden Central School where he served as chairman of the music department and director of the Eden High School Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble. He was the 1998 Recipient of the Excellence in Music Education Award for Instrumental Music given by the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Erie County Music Educators Association. He was honored as Eden Teacher of the Year in 1990 and 2001 and received the Community Involvement Music Award in 2005.  He has also been named the 2014 Citizen of the Year in Music by the Am-Pol Eagle Newspaper in Buffalo, NY

He is music director of the Erie County (Music Educators') Wind Ensemble and he regularly performs on trumpet with  Jim Tudini Big Band, Cathedral Brass Quintet, Galliard Brass Quintet and the Clarence Symphony Orchestra. In addition, he has performed with the Buffalo Philharmonic, the Special Edition Musicales and with theater orchestras at Shea's Performing Arts Center and Artpark.

John Maguda served as Festival Administrator for the Erie County Music Educators' Association for 10 years, and is a member of the Executive Board of the Buffalo Musicians' Association, Local 92, American Federation of Musicians since 1998.
