Nicole McPherson

Bio:Flutist Nicole J. McPherson is the principal flutist of the Orchard Park Symphony Orchestra. She currently performs with the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, the Erie Philharmonic and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. Additionally, she has played in orchestras throughout Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Michigan. She has been a soloist with the Michigan State University Symphony Orchestra and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. Ms. McPherson also performs in the Silverwind Duo with clarinetist Andrew Seigel. Ms. McPherson has performed for live solo radio performances and for public television broadcastings, as well as on many award-winning and Grammy nominated recordings. She was invited to perform at the 2001 National Flute Association Convention and the Global Flute Workshop in New York City. Ms. McPherson has published articles in the International Alliance for Women in Music journal. Ms. McPherson currently teaches at the State University of New York at Fredonia. Before moving to New York, Ms. McPherson taught at Southeastern Louisiana University. She received her B.M. in Flute Performance from Ithaca College and her M.M. and D.M.A degree in Flute Performance from Michigan State University where she studied with Richard Sherman. Former teachers include Jeff Zook, Philip Dikeman, Linda Wetherill, Claudia Anderson, Wendy H. Mehne and Glennda Dove Pellito. |
