Justin Pomietlarz is the Director of Choirs at Amherst Central High School and is assistant conductor of the Chancel Choir and director of the Youth Choir at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Buffalo, New York. Mr. Pomietlarz began his teaching career in the Rochester City School District and subsequently taught at Marion High School in Wayne County and at Hauppauge High School in Suffolk County, Long Island. At Amherst, his choirs have performed Mozart's Requiem, Vivaldi's Gloria and a newly commission work “Haec Dies” by New York based composer, Chris Mueller.  As vocal music director and producer for the Amherst Operetta Association, he has produced a fully staged production of Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, Sondheim's Into the Woods, Suessical, Sandy Wilson's The Boy Friend, and Leader of the Pack: the Ellie Greenwich Musical.  His choirs serve as ambassadors to Amherst High School, performing at community events throughout Western New York, including an appearance for the US Postal Service First Day of Issue Ceremony at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery and pre-concert performances for the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra Chorus' annual Messiah at the Our Lady of Victory Basilica in Lackawanna, New York.  His choirs have also performed with the choir of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and the Western New York Chamber Orchestra both in Buffalo, and at SUNY Fredonia. Mr. Pomietlarz was twice selected as “Teacher of the Month” at Amherst High School, and is listed in “Who’s Who of American Teachers.”  Mr. Pomietlarz was recently the guest conductor of the Chautauqua Junior High All-County Chorus and has served as chairperson or accompanist for All-County Choruses in Erie, Monroe, Genesee, Chautauqua, and Suffolk Counties.

Justin earned his undergraduate degree in piano performance and music education from SUNY Fredonia where he was a winner of the Concerto Competition. He was also a finalist in the Ithaca College Choral Music Composition Contest with his arrangement of “My Sailor Lad.”  While earning his Masters degree in piano performance from SUNY Fredonia, Mr. Pomietlarz served as interim director of the University Chorus, assistant director and accompanist for the Fredonia College Choir, and as coach/accompanist for several musicals and Hillman Opera productions.  Mr. Pomietlarz has also been on the artistic faculty for the New York State Summer School of the Arts – School for Choral Studies, and was an administrative assistant for the Chautauqua Opera.  An avid sailor, Justin navigated four of the five Great Lakes on a single voyage from Rochester, New York to Chicago, Illinois.  He happily resides with his wife Kristen and puppy “Franz” in Parkside, Buffalo.
