About the Area:

Community is key here at the violin studio at SUNY Fredonia! At the core of our studio ethos is the belief that collaboration and a mutually supportive environment help each of us to become better performers, educators and all-rounded musicians and human beings. Under the guidance of acclaimed faculty, students receive highly personalized weekly lessons, where they learn to hone their instrumental, musical, analytical, creative and leadership skills. Our goal is to help our students become their own greatest teachers by the time they leave Fredonia—that they are fully equipped with the instrumental and intellectual tools necessary to adapt and succeed in a rapidly evolving professional landscape.

In addition to weekly recital seminars in Fredonia’s world-class concert facilities, students also have myriad opportunities to perform for peers, faculty and surrounding community members, both on and off campus. Guest artists from around the world offer performances, masterclasses and workshops to broaden the scope of musical understanding, while offering new perspectives on how pursue a meaningful career in music.

Chamber music is an essential and highly encouraged part of musical life at Fredonia as well! Each semester, students have the chance to work collaboratively with peers in through an intensive chamber music program, with multiple on and off campus performances and masterclass opportunities.
