Purpose

The American Indian Graduate Center was founded to help open the doors of graduate education for American Indians and to help tribes obtain the educated Indian professionals they need to become more self sufficient and to exercise rights to self-determination.

Eligibility

Enrolled member of federally recognized tribe or possess 1/4 degree (federally recognized) Indian blood; Pursuing a master's or doctorate degree as a full time student in an accredited school in the U.S.; In need of financial aid with applications for federal financial aid submitted in January or February;

General Information

AIGC funds all fields of study. Contact AIGC or download an application packet beginning in January 2008. A one time, non-refundable application fee of $15 (money order only) is required of new applicants.

Vary based upon financial need.

Required Documentation

Complete Application with Fee, if applicable; Essay (250 words) meeting specified criteria; Tribal Eligibility Certificate directly from enrollment officer; Financial Need Form directly from Financial Aid; Three pre-addressed stamped post cards.
