Purpose

NIEA has established scholarships for nominations among members; the John Rouillard and Alice Tonemah Scholarships recognize demonstrated leadership and role model qualities, academic achievement, creativity, and commitment to education.

Eligibility

American Indian or Alaska Native currently enrolled full time, pursuing an associate's, bachelor's, master's, or doctorate degree; Must be a member of NIEA to nominate; student must be a member.

General Information

Nomination forms are contained in the NIEA's annual Call to Convention, generally distributed in June-July. Scholarship winners are announced at the annual fall convention banquet. Membership fees may be submitted with nomination.

Awards

$1,000 - $2,500.

Complete Nomination Form with one-page justification; Biographical Information; Examples of Work; Supporting Documentation; Membership Card Copy; Copy of College I.D. and Enrollment Status; Transcripts; Two Letters of Recommendation; Photo May be Requested.
