Purpose

To award grants to Native American women who are pursuing studies and who plan to work in Education or another service field.

Eligibility

Enrolled Native American woman from New York State with at least one Native American parent, attending a two or four year college in New York State; preference given to those studying Education.

General Information

Grant may be used for any career-related purpose, including purchase of textbooks; renewable through undergraduate and graduate work. Grants determined by availability of funds and distributed by the Awards Committee.

Awards

$500 each semester; $5,000 maximum over a five year period.

Deadlines

Six (6) weeks before the beginning of the semester.

Required Documentation

Complete Application; Personal Letter; Academic Record; College Enrollment Verification; Two Letters of Recommendation; Proof of Tribal Affiliation.
