Purpose

The Seneca Diabetes Foundation was established in the hopes that the students who receive this scholarship will use their education and training to benefit the Seneca people, especially in regard to the fight against diabetes.

Eligibility

Enrolled SNI member pursuing a college or university degree in health or social services professions.

General Information

Ruth Goode, born in 1905 to a large family, was the only child to pursue higher education. Working several jobs throughout nursing school, Ruth graduated in 1928 as an RN. Ruth led a long and industrious career spanning nearly fifty years. She was respected by doctors and staff and trusted by patients. She adhered to the highest standard in nursing and was an asset to her profession. The Ruth Goode Nursing Scholarship will be awarded to a Seneca nursing student who embodies the qualities Ruth displayed in her life and career. Students may apply for more than one of the scholarships available through the Seneca Diabetes Foundation.

Awards

$5,000 Awarded Annually.

Complete Application Form (available on website); Documentation of Tribal Enrollment; Letter of Support from Teacher/Academic Advisor; Copy of Most Recent Transcripts and Proof of Academic Enrollment and/or Registration Required.
