Purpose

To encourage two Seneca students to pursue and complete advanced degrees to provide professional expertise for the growth and progression of the tribe. Advanced degrees include Master's, Doctoral, or Professional degrees such as M.D., J.D.

Eligibility

Enrolled SNI member; Permanent residence on territory or within NYS; Bachelor's degree; Full Time student pursuing an advanced degree at an accredited college or university; Apply to the Seneca Nation of Indians Higher Education Program and the American Indian Graduate Center.

General Information

Must maintain 3.0 GPA, provide community service, and intend to accept employment with the SNI for each year of scholarship support. A selection committee reviews and ranks applications with a point priority system. Unmet tuition paid directly to school, remaining funds paid to student monthly.

Awards

$20,000 Awarded annually to two Seneca students per year, per territory.

July 16.

Required Documentation

Complete Application Form, Essay; Two faculty or employer recommendations; Documentation of Tribal enrollment, Bachelor's degree conferral, Graduate school acceptance; Signed Contract Form.
