Purpose

Since 1924 the Foundation has been awarding scholarships to students from Western New York.  From the year 2000 on, we have awarded over $8 million in scholarships to thousands of local college students.

Eligibility

Must be a permanend resident of one of the eight counties of Western New York; must be admitted to a nonprofit [501(c)(3)], U.S. Department of Education accredited school in the U.S. for full-time undergraduate study.

General Information

Pell eligible applicants attending school withins the eight counties of Western New York will be given strong preference in the award decision process; A limited number of scholarships are available to graduate students in specialized fields (architecture, arts, engineering, medicine, nursing, piano, environment, and wildlife).

Awards

Awards range from $1,000-$5,500 - determined by the Foundation's Board of Directors.  Strong preference is given to those applicants who are Pell eligible, as determined by the FAFSA, and attending schools within the eight counties of Western New York.

March 1st - applications due through website (www.cfgb.org)
April 1st - supporting materials due

FAFSA; Unmet Ned FOrm (www.cfgb.org); Application Online Form; 2009-2010 Grades (High school students - One copy of your report card showing 2 marking periods.  HS Transcripts are NOT accepted.  College Students - One copy of your Fall 2009 grade report).
