Purpose
|
To assist American Indians to enroll in courses to prepare for admission into health professions schools in the U.S. Courses may be compensatory (required to improve science, math, or other basic skills and knowledge) or preprofessional (required to qualify for admission into health professions program).

Eligibility
|
American Indian/Alaska Native (federal/state recognized); Accepted/enrolled in full or part time compensatory or preprofessional general education course or curriculum identified as a priority within IHS; Capacity to complete course of study; Minimum GPA of 2.0 to apply or continue. Intend to serve Indian people upon completion of curriculum.

Online application will be available in December 2012.
Application and priority areas available on website. Submit application early for technical review by the Scholarship Program Staff. Scholarship is available for up to 2 years full time study or 4 years part time study, with reapplication; tuition and fees award, only. Reapplicants who meet requirements and recommendations are given priority for additional periods of funding.
