Availability

One artist annually.

Eligibility

Professional and/or working artists; Must be recognized by their community, have at least 10 years of experience, and reflect artistic accomplishments. Individuals enrolled in a degree program are not eligible.

Information

Provides Native artists (Visual, Literature, Performance, Media) the opportunity to explore and propose research of collections of local (within 100 miles of their home) museums or cultural centers. Must give a presentation and submit evaluation within two weeks of completing project. Past program participants' work can be viewed at www.AmericanIndian.si.edu. Application available on website.

Benefits/Award

$1,000 Stipend for expenses at beginning of research period.

Postmarked on or before May 7, 2007.
