Availability

One application will be selected every year.

Eligibility

Native artist with community support to develop and host an art related symposium; Must have at least 10 years' experience in the art world with significant accomplishments. Individuals enrolled in a degree program are not eligible.

Information

Provides an opportunity to propose discussion on an art related topic that will result in a one-day gathering of traditional and non-traditional artists, local community members, and scholars. NMAI will assist with arrangements, including plans for audio recording and possible broadcast. Requires evaluation forms, written report, and invoice. Application available on website.

Benefits/Award

Total contract base amount is $6,000, awarded at completion of tasks as follows: $1,250 for symposium preparation and planning; $1,750 for overseeing successful completion of the one-day symposium; $3,000 for symposium documentation and dissemination.
