Availability

Up to four artists annually. Three week research program.

Eligibility

Professional and/or working artists; Must be recognized by their community; have at least 10 years of experience, and reflect artistic accomplishments. Individuals enrolled in a degree program are not eligible.

Information

Designed to support Native artists to conduct community-based projects, enhance career development, explore, evaluate, and document existing art and cultural material and to survey the NY, Philadelphia, Boston, and DC art communities, galleries, cultural sites. Artist's community-based project will reflect knowledge gained during research period. Written evaluation required. Application available on website.

Benefits/Award

Airfare and Lodging; Stipend of $6,000 for meals and incidental expenses upon arrival to the NMAI; Opportunity to be profiled on the internet at www.AmericanIndian.si.edu.
