Availability

The IFP is accessible in four different languages (English, French, Spanish and Russian).  The programme is held annually.  Each language version is developed slightly different and generally runs from 2-4 months. 

Eligibility

Candidate must be indigenous; preference is given to those 25-35 years old; candidates should agree to train other indigenous persons after the return to their respective communities/organizations; candidacy should be supported by his/her indigenous organization and/or community.

Information

The aim of the program is to give indigenous people the opportunity to gain knowledge of the UN system and mechanisms dealing with human rights in general and indigenous issues in particular so they can assist their organizations and communities in protecting and promoting the rights of their people.

Benefits/Award

Round trip from country of residence to Geneva; Modest accommodation, health insurance, and monthly grant for living expenses.
