The Association of American Indian Affairs, Inc David Risling
Emergency Aid Scholarship is dedicated to helping Native
American people and communities meet challenges by developing new and
creative ways to focus resources where they are most needed today.
Must be a full time American Indian/Alaska Native student, based upon
financial need and proof of 1/4 degree Indian blood from a federally
recognized tribe. This scholarship offers amounts of $100-$400 for
acute, temporary emergencies. FMI:

The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International's Native American Grant
awards grants to Native American women who are pursuing studies and who
plan to work in Education or another service field. Must be an enrolled
Native American women from NYS with at least one Native American parent,
and attending a two or four year college in NYS (preference given to those
studying education). Grant may be used for any career-related purpose,
including purchase of textbooks. It is renewable through undergraduate and
graduate work. Grants determined by availability of funds and distributed
by the Awards Committee. Award is $500 each semester - $5,000 maximum over
a 5-year period. Deadline is 6 weeks before the beginning of the semester.

Distant Drums
Native American Scholarship established to provide perpetual
scholarship support for members of Iroquois Nations pursuing part-time
studies through Syracuse
University. Available
for part-time Native American students, with preference given to members of
the Six Nations, at least a sophomore with a 2.0 GPA. Award varies but generally
covers one 3-credit hour class. The application date is open. FMI: University College

Nihewan Foundation for Native American Education's Nihewan Scholarship focuses
to help Native American students participate in learning; Nihewan is
dedicated to improving the education of and about Native American people
and cultures. Must have tribal enrollment; acceptance at accredited
institution of learning; proof of need and proof of application to other

Oneida Indian Nation of New York offers the Oneida Indian Nation
Scholarship which provides financial incentives to insure Oneida members an opportunity
to pursue post secondary education through a certificate or college degree
program from an accredited institution. Must be an enrolled Oneida Indian
Nation member, maintain a 2.0 GPA, proof of course completion and grades
required to be eligible for future scholarships. Awards will be sent
directly to the college, university or institution. The application process

Onondaga Community College Foundation's Native American
Scholarships provide merit and financial need based
scholarships for Native students attending OCC. Student must be a
registered OCC student with FAFSA on file. Available awards are as follows:
Allyn Multicultural Sch. (7) awards of $1,000;
Allyn Native Sch. - award varies;
Horowitch Native American Endowed Sch. (2) awards of $500;
Onondaga Nation Endowed Sch. - award varies;
SUNY/OCC Multicultural Honors Sch. $500 (PT) and $1,000 (FT) Award - number
of awards vary;

Religious Society of Friends New York Yearly Meeting Indian Affairs
Committee Stipend
Program provides a modest stipend to support students engaged
in furthering their studies in the arts or enrolled in any college and any
course of study. IAC is a small, volunteer committee with limited resources
that meets three times a year to consider stipend applications: early
April, late July, early December so application material must be received
well in advance of their meeting. Awards are $450 or less - typically

State University
of New York's Graduate Diversity
Fellowship Program available for students who are US citizens
or permanent residents, including Native Americans, accepted to full-time
graduate or professional degree study at any of the participating SUNY
colleges may be eligible for a Fellowship and Full Waiver of Tuition.
Fields leading to the master's or doctorate degree are covered by the
fellowship. Each campus designates a liaison - a listing is provided by
SUNY upon request. Application information can be requested from
participating campuses. Awards range from $7,500 to $10,000 plus a graduate

January 1, 2008: Syracuse University's Haudenosaunee
Promise Scholarship expresses Syracuse University's gratitude
and appreciation for the historical, political, and cultural legacies of
the Haudenosaunee and makes the university's rich educational experience
available to admitted, qualified, first year and transfer American Indian
students. Students must be admitted to Syracuse University;
a certified citizen of a Haudenosaunee nation; have resided on
Haudenosaunee territory for a minimum of 4 years prior to and during their
enrollment at SU. Financial assistance equal to the cost of tuition,
housing and meals (on-campus), and mandatory fees for each year of full

January 8-March 16, 2008: National Association of Social Workers
(NASW) Foundation's Consuelo
W. Gosnell Memorial Scholarship offers support MSW degree
candidates committed to working with American Indian/Alaska Native and
Hispanic/Latino populations or in public and voluntary nonprofit agency
settings. Must be a NASW member, accepted or enrolled in a CSWE
accredited MSW program, have the potential for completing a MSW and a
minimum 3.0 GPA. There are up to 10 scholarships ranging from $1,000-$4,000

January 15, 2008: New York Power Authority's Tuscarora
Scholarship Program awards tuition to two students
matriculating full time at a SUNY
School. The
students must be pursuing an undergraduate degree. Students must be
enrolled at Tuscarora Nation and be a student attending a SUNY
school. This scholarship pays tuition for the SUNY school for four

January 17, 2008: Grand River Post Secondary Education Office (GRPSEO) provides
eligible Six Nations (Canada)
members with assistance to enroll in and study post secondary programs with
funds voted by Parliament. GRPSEO is overseen by a Board which
reports annually to both the Six Nations Elected Council and the
Confederacy Council. Services and assistance include tuition, books,
