Assistant Professor of History/Women's Studies
The Department of History and the Women's Studies Program at the State
University of New York at New Paltz invite applications for a joint
appointment as a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor
specializing in the history of Native American/Indigenous American
women. The position, which also supports the Native American Studies
Program, will begin in Fall 2012.
Qualifications: Ph.D. preferred; however, exceptional ABD candidates
with a firm completion date will be considered. Post-secondary teaching experience is highly desired. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in women's and gender studies and commensurate strengths in history. The ability to teach courses in feminist theory, feminist activism, and/or New York State history is a plus. We especially encourage applications from individuals who can bring diverse cultural and ethnic perspectives and experiences to the campus and who can advise and mentor all members of our diverse student body.
Responsibilities: The successful applicant will teach a variety of
undergraduate and graduate courses, in accordance with his or her
area(s) of expertise, and will be expected to establish a strong program of scholarship, advise students, and contribute to the life and work of the department/programs and the college. We value the diversity of our students, faculty, and staff and are especially interested in considering applicants with a strong commitment to fostering a culturally diverse atmosphere.

regionally for the strength of its academic programs. It is located in
