Redesign Core Process

The Core Process is a framework to complete a site-wide redesign of the SUNY Fredonia web site in 2007. See Planning Documents at right for an outline of the Core Process, Timeline and Sample Page Designs.

Primary Goals for 2007 Web Redesign

• Implement a site-wide redesign of all official university pages, to be completed in spring 2008, beginning with first-tier sites
• Enforce web policy for NYS web accessibility requirements
• Provide consistent navigation throughout the site via page templates
• Separate content (structured XHTML) from presentation (CSS2 tableless layout) to simplify web maintenance and future design changes for the whole site.
• Remove out-of-date content during migration and redesign
• Engage primary web content owners -- Web Authors, VPs, AVPs, Deans, Chairs and Directors -- to improve the accuracy and timeliness of the entire web site. Those with less web experience can use a visual tool for page editing.
• Improve web author’s technical skills with training
• Add RSS feeds from every area of the site
