Dean Schwartz accepts post in France

Dr. Paul Schwartz, Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities for more than eight years, has been selected to be the next Dean f Academic Affairs at the Institute for American Universities in Aix-en-Provence, France.  

A French scholar throughout most of his career, while at Fredonia Dean Schwartz was principal investigator of several Title III grants.  "This appointment is a recognition of Paul's talent and experience as an academic leader, as well as an exciting opportunity for him to lead a growing institution in a country that claims a large part of his heart," Vice President Horvath said. "We will be planning a reception in December to thank Paul for his dedicated service and to wish him well in this next adventure!"

Vice President for Academic Affairs Virginia Horvath announced that an interim dean will be appointed while a national search is conducted for his replacement.  Vice President Horvath said she hopes the deanship will be advertised nationally by the end of November, that candidates will be interviewed in February, and a new Dean will be able to take the position in early summer.
