Area children will once again have the opportunity for a hands-on theater experience this summer, as a special day camp at SUNY Fredonia returns for its fourth season. From Monday, August 16 through Saturday, August 21, the Department of Theatre and Dance and the Fredonia College Foundation's Carnahan-Jackson Humanities Fund will be hosting “Playground Drama Day Camp” on the SUNY Fredonia campus.

The camp will run daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and boys and girls ages 8 to 15 are welcome to attend. The camp costs $185 and includes a free t-shirt and daily snack. Enrollment is limited and deposits are due no later than July 5. Payment options include making a full payment of $185 (including the $85 non-refundable deposit) or a non-refundable deposit of $85, with the remaining $100 balance due August 1.

The “pre-show drop off” at 8:30 a.m. and the “daily showcase” from 4:50-5:15 p.m. provide parents and caregivers flexible drop off and pick up options at no extra charge.

Every day during the came consists of morning rehearsals of Disney’s Mulan Junior followed by a brown-bag lunch from home. Afternoon adventures include an exciting rotation of drama classes including The Musical Theatre Workshop, stage combat, fresh air, snacks and fun activities.

Saturday will include final preparations for this summer’s musical production and main stage event: Disney’s Mulan Junior. Families are invited to join in the Marvel Theatre as the Playground Players embark on a journey into the spectacular world of musical theatre production.
