Orchesis Dance Co. presents concert Friday night
Wednesday, December 01, 2010

“Pandora’s Box,” a dance concert featuring 10 student-choreographed pieces along with two guest-choreographed selections, will be presented by the Orchesis Dance Company of SUNY Fredonia on Friday, Dec. 3, 8 p.m., at King Concert Hall.  The production involves 50 students who will perform a wide variety of dance styles, including tap, jazz, contemporary and ballet.

“It’s a really great opportunity to come and support aspiring young choreographers that will be starting out at SUNY Fredonia and hopefully go on to do professional work and become famous. There are a lot of different genres and styles of dance,” said Orchesis vice president Amanda Kurey.

The two guest choreographers, Tokyo, from Los Angeles, and Tina Ciardullo, of New York City, visited the campus to audition dancers and teach them their respective pieces.

The performance, which serves as the dance organization’s fall concert, is intended for mature audiences. General admission is $7, $4 for students.
