SUNY Fredonia art professor Timothy Frerichs unveiled "A long (the) line," his site-oriented public art installation that draws attention to human actions and their probable environmental consequences, on Friday, Sept. 14, at the Everson Museum in Syracuse.

The installation, inside an 8-by-8-by-20 shipping container, is located on the former Erie Canal, a half-block away from the Erie Canal Museum. The container itself displays two large "sail" structures, representing transportation systems in New York State.

The exhibit is part of The Other New York 2012 (TONY 2012), a community-wide, multi-venue biennial exhibition sponsored by the Everson Museum of Art and will run through Oct. 28.

The museum had its official opening Friday Sept. 21. Frerichs will also participate in an "Artist Talk: The Lure of the Local," on Oct. 16 at the museum in connection with the exhibit.

Frerichs has also included his "Works on Paper” in the Exhibit of International Artist Book "Il Libro Della Notte." The exhibit will open Sept 28. at the Western New York Book Arts Collaborative (WNYBAC), Buffalo, at 7 p.m. Frerichs is acting as guest curator for this exhibit, and will be conducting a bookbinding workshop Oct. 27 at WNYBAC.
