SUNY Fredonia Radio Systems to celebrate College Radio Day
Tuesday, October 01, 2013

Fredonia Radio Systems will be joining various college stations across the world to celebrate College Radio Day. The day will include live music by The Mooses, Buxom, Lo and Behold, and Zen as well as CD, posters and sticker giveaways, and a free concert is slated for  Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 7 to 10 p.m. at The Spot in Tim Horton’s Café and Bake Shop in the Williams Center and broadcast on WCVF 88.9FM and WDVL 89.5, Fredonia Radio’s two stations. The event is not only free, but listeners can also tune in at Fredoniaradio.com.

Throughout the day, the stations will be showcasing some of their best work along with live DJ talent. FRS previously gained national attention for its College Radio Day efforts in 2011 from the New York Times and awards from the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System.

College Radio Day was created to encourage people from around the world to tune into the various college stations and raise international awareness of college radio. The hope is that people who do not normally listen will like what they hear and continue. Compared to commercial stations, college radio is believed to provide unique and fearless programming to the airwaves and Internet.
