Panel to be held on educational systems around the world

A free panel discussion, “Educational Systems around the World: From Elementary School to University,” will be held Monday, April 14 at 3 p.m. in Williams Center Room 204.

The panel is open to both the campus and local communities and refreshments will follow. The event is part of the 2013-2014 SUNY Fredonia Convocation Series.

The discussants are Lecturer Chiara De Santi from the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures and Assistant Professor Bond Benton of the Department of Communication. General introductions will be given by Distinguished Service Professor/Coordinator of International Learning Ted Schwalbe and Professor of Curriculum and Instruction/Coordinator of the Curriculum and Instruction master’s degree program, Dr. Robert Dahlgren.

The panel will consist of: Dr. De Santi, who will speak about Italy; Associate Professor Iclal Vanwesenbeek of the Department of English, Turkey; Assistant Professor Anthony Tsetse of the Department of Computer and Information Sciences, Ghana; Assistant Professor Xin Fan of the Department of History, China; and Assistant Professor Brian Boisvert of the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, Puerto Rico.

The panel will also include 10 different international students who will be talking about various countries including France, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Japan and Brazil. The students include William Webber, Fawaz Alrouqi, Halah Fuad Nouran, Asrar Aldirgham, Eunjae Kim, Gyu Eun Bark, Sunkyung Choi, Minjung Kim, Sakurako Yagi and Bianca De Azevedo Moreira.
