De-Stress for Success offers a variety of activities

The Counseling Center and various other campus groups will host De-Stress for Success. The initiative is to help students relax for a few moments during the last week of classes and Final Exam week.

De-stress for Success is a series of events, programs and workshops designed to help students to find ways to reduce stress in a healthy, productive manner, and gain the focus they need to succeed. Events, which are free to all students, will begin Thursday, May. 8, and conclude Friday, May. 16.

Events include:

  • Zumba: Monday, May 12 and Wednesday, May 14, noon to 1 p.m., Dods Hall Gym. Dance away stress with a free Zumba class.
  • Paws to Relax: Monday, May 12 and Tuesday, May 13, noon to 1 p.m., Reed Library. Pet and play with certified therapy dogs with Dr. Nancy Gee from the Department of Psychology.
  • Freeze Pops and Frisbees: Tuesday, May 13 and Thursday, May 15, 2 to 3 p.m., McEwen Hall lobby. Relax with free freeze pops and Frisbees.
  • Yoga: Tuesday, May 13, 11 a.m. to noon, Dods Hall Gym. Learn how to stretch away the stress. Limited mats will be available; students are encouraged to bring their own mats.
  • Healthy Bites: Thursday, May 8 to Thursday May 15, at LoGrasso Hall; students are invited to stop by the Health Center, which will be offering free healthy snacks.
  • Quiet Study Areas: Reed Library has designated quiet study areas in the Reed Library Classroom (first floor of the Carnahan-Jackson Center) and on the second floor of the Carnahan-Jackson Center from Thursday, May 8 to Thursday, May 15 during the library's extended hours.
  • Exam Study Break: Tuesday, May 13, 7 p.m., in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room, sponsored by Spectrum.
  • Stress Free Zone: Thursday, May 8 to Thursday, May 15 in Reed Library lobby. Students are urged to take a timeout from their hectic schedules and relax with various stress relieving activities including: coloring, crafts and games.

In addition, the Williams Center has designated quiet study areas. Monday, May 12 to Thursday, May 15 from 9 a.m. to 11:45 p.m.; Friday, May 16, 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. in the Williams Center rooms G103A, S204D, and in the Multipurpose Room.
