University Village townhouse complex
The official ribbon-cutting for the University Village townhouse complex will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 3 at 11 a.m.
Students, Fredonia administrators and regional officials will be on hand to celebrate the opening of the complex, which is described as the off-campus experience with the safety and convenience of living on-campus.
Each private bedroom features a full size bed, dresser, desk and chair. Each townhouse includes a couch and two chairs in the living room, two full bathrooms, a washer and dryer, and a kitchen table or counter top with four kitchen chairs or stools. The townhouses have high-speed Internet, WiFi, digital cable, ResNet support, central heating, air conditioning and facilities support.
A community building includes a mailroom, recreation and meeting space. The buildings are surrounded by walkways, yards, parking and landscaping.
The $30 million project resulted in more than 130 construction jobs at its peak, performed by firms located throughout western New York state and northwestern Pennsylvania. The buildings were designed by Chaintreuil Jensen Stark Architects of Buffalo and Rochester, N.Y., while the general contractors were Burgio and Campofelice of Cheektowaga.
