Five Fredonia employees, whose collective university service spans more than 85 years and all five major departments within the Finance & Administration division, have received the Outstanding Administrative Service Award in recognition of exemplary service during 2014.

The strength of Fredonia and the Finance & Administration division continues to be hardworking, dedicated employees who perform a wide range of services throughout the campus. A luncheon to honor the five individuals was held on Sept. 9.

Recipients of the awards and their respective positions include:

  • Matthew Snyder, Professional Staff: associate executive director and controller of FSA. A resident of Fredonia, Snyder began his career at Fredonia with FSA in 2004 as controller.

  • Susanne Valentine, Custodial Services: janitor in Athletics. A resident of Dunkirk, Valentine has served Fredonia in the Custodial department since 1991.

  • Herbert Farner, Professional Trades: plant utilities engineer 1/HVAC. A resident of Irving, Farner was hired at Fredonia in 2011 as a plant utilities assistant.

  • Debra Desmond, Secretarial/Clerical: clerk in Student Accounts. Desmond, who joined Fredonia in 1994, resides in Dunkirk.

  • Christine Sipp, FSA Operational: FSA cleaner and laundry worker. Sipp, who lives in Fredonia, has worked with FSA since 1989.

For the last 12 years, the Finance & Administration division has recognized individuals from within that division who have demonstrated a solid team effort in their everyday actions, an outstanding Fredonia service attitude, creativity and resourcefulness in improving services and a positive attitude in working with students, faculty and staff.
