President Horvath to participate in Girl Scouts of WNY Career Day

President Virginia Horvath will speak at the upcoming "I Can Be" Career Day, hosted by the Girl Scouts of Western New York. She will be among approximately 30 volunteer professionals who will share their career journeys and conduct interactive modules with the scouts, to educate and inspire them on how to make an informed choice about their future careers. The Saturday, Nov. 8 event will take place in Buffalo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Villa Maria College.

"Girls demand activities that  are experience based. They want to learn by doing, even when it relates to emotional issues that they can share with other girls, according to the Girl Scout Research Institute," said Cindy L. Odom, chief executive officer of Girl Scouts of Western New York.

Girls who register will submit their top career paths prior to the event and, based on their preferences, be put into workshops. They will have the chance to go to four different workshops lasting approximately 40 minutes each to learn about different career paths.

The cost is $5 for registered Girl Scouts. Girls who are not yet registered may participate by paying a $15 Girl Scout of the USA registration fee and a $5 program fee. The deadline to register is Wednesday, Nov. 5. For details or to register, visit gswny.org or call 1-888-837-6410.
