Friday, November 14, 2014

Five Fredonia students who majored in business will have their project, “Operations Management Students Use a Six Sigma Cycle to Improve Advising,” published in the professional trade journal, Quality Progress, the flagship publication of the American Society for Quality (ASQ).

Jonathon Bellardo, ’14; Samuel Tetens, ’14; Karen Magnuson, ’13; Angela Short-Southwick, ’13, and senior David Adamczak, with their advisor and mentor, Dr. Lisa Walters, conducted the project for the Operations Management II class during the Fall 2013 semester. The project focused on using the Lean Six Sigma project management framework to identify deficiencies and offer improvement recommendations for the academic advising process in the Department of Business Administration.

The team presented the project at a meeting with local sections of the American Society of Quality, who suggested they submit their work to Quality Progress, which presents in-depth articles describing quality applications and innovative methods to a large global audience.
