Four records fall at Bucknell

The women's 4 x 400 relay team (from left): Anna Dambacher, Kim Foltz, Brittany Feldman and Laura Morrison.

Sunday proved to be a highlight reel for the Fredonia women's track and field program as four records were broken on the second day of the Bucknell Outdoor Classic.

Laura Morrison (Wethersfield, Conn./Wethersfield), no stranger to the Blue Devil record boards, was the first to make her mark as she toppled her own 800-meter time, running the event in 2:12.35. The time was better than her previous record set a year ago of 2:17.69, and better than her NCAA-qualifying indoor time of 2:14.48. She now ranks sixth in NCAA Division III in the event.

Freshman sprinter Brittany Feldman (Jamestown, N.Y./Southwestern), running in her second collegiate outdoor meet, then set a new school mark in the 400-meter run of 58.38, breaking the record of 58.63 formerly held by Morrison.

Later in the day in a much-anticipated occasion, Morrison and Feldman teamed up with junior sprinter Anna Dambacher (Divernon, Ill. /Auburn) and senior runner Kim Foltz (Elbridge, N.Y./Jordan-Elbridge) to set a new record in the women's 4x400-meter relay. The unit, running together for the second time, set a new mark of 3:57.96, breaking a ten-year-old record of 4:01.68. They are now ranked No. 22 in the event in NCAA Division III.

Also competing in a collegiate outdoor meet for the second time, freshman pole valuter Julia Schreier (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) ended the day with a school record of her own. Her height in the outdoor pole vault of 11'2.75" bested the mark set by teammate Olivia Kurbs last year (10'8").

Foltz also ran in the 800-meter run and set a personal best mark with a time of 2:18.90, making her second in the event all-time at Fredonia. Lauren Kotas (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster) and Bonnie Binggeli (Walworth, N.Y./Gananda) competed in the 800-meter run with times of 2:22.33 and 2:23.33, respectively, while Dambacher ran a 12.93 in the 100-meter dash.

The team will travel to Cortland, N.Y. on Friday for the Cortland Classic.
